Peter James Abad is a registered nurse and a pioneer genetic counselor in the Philippines. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at the College of Nursing, University of the Philippines Manila and his Master’s degree in genetic counseling at the College of the Medicine in the same university.
He also attended the Basic and Advanced Course in Genetic Counseling offered by the European School of Genetic Medicine as a scholarship grantee of the European Society of Human Genetics in Bertinoro, Italy in 2014. As a pioneer genetic counselor in the country, he is active in the integration of genetic counseling services in the different medical specialties particularly in the prenatal and oncology setting. Currently, he is the membership director and a founding member of the Professional Society of Genetic Counselors in Asia, a special interest society of the Asia-Pacific Society of Human Genetics.

Develop meal plans, taking both cost and clients preference.
Promote better nutrition by speaking about diet, nutrition and the relationship between healthy eating habits and preventing or managing specific diseases.
Monitoring food intake and nutritional status.
Keeping a healthy lifestyle throughout pregnancy, as well as before and after, is key to good health for both baby and mother. A balanced diet with variety of foods can provide healthy women with enough nutrients for the magical time.
